A “bouillon” restaurant is a traditional dining establishment that has been popular in France since the late 19th century. Originally, these restaurants offered simple, inexpensive dishes, including soups (hence the name “bouillon”), meats in sauce and vegetables, to feed the workers of Paris at an affordable price.

About Bouillon Français Restaurant in Anglet

It was thanks to Pierre-Louis Duval, a butcher, that the first bouillons were created in Paris in 1855. By offering a single meat dish and a bouillon to workers at Les Halles, Monsieur Duval was a great success, and by 1900 there were more than 200 bouillons in Paris. These bouillons became the first popular restaurant chain in France.
Today’s bouillons offer French dishes that follow three rules: good, fast and cheap.
Ideally located in the heart of the dynamic Anglet district, a stone’s throw from the Halles des 5 cantons, the Bouillon Français transports you into a unique, modern, art deco atmosphere.
